As all good things come to an end, we come to the end of our stay in Bali. So we will explore the South Bali by heading to Sanur for our boat to Gili Air Island planned the next day.

South Bali – Tanah Lot Temple
Visiting Tanah Lot templewas a wonder for our little eyes. Perched on a black rock surrounded by sand, this temple throws itself into the tumultuous waves of the waves. It is dedicated to the deities of the sea and seems to brave the elements. According to legend, it was erected in the 16th century under the aegis of the Javanese priest Danghyang Nirarta, amazed by the beauty of the site. In fact, the small cliff that runs along the coast of the beach offers a superb view. Expect a crowd of tourists, the shops that go with it and of course the street vendors who escort you with a smile!
Small disappointment: we can not enter the temple. Only the priests and persons participating in a ceremony have the right to enter … (following the cremation of the bodies, the Balinese have the custom to come to throw the ashes to the sea of the top of this temple).
Nice little attraction: the BOA snake! Here you will have the opportunity to dress a beautiful BOA snake living around your neck! It is impressive but without risk. What a beautiful selfi …
South Bali – Going to Sanur
We planned to spend 2 days in Amed and visit the surroundings. But given the security perimeter imposed by the Balinese authorities around the AGUNG volcano (which was expected to erupt from one day to the next), we had to modify our program and head towards SANUR to leave from there. to the GILI Islands …
South Bali – Cheap Hotel in Sanur
There, in Sanur, it is the best value for money I found of all cheap hotels in Indonesia: 10 Euros per night!
This Guest House is located on a street a bit far from the big hotels and shops. The welcome from the family was lovely and the two little girls adorable (they stayed with us and made us their show during our improvised aperitif in front of our rooms).
Breakfast (extra for 25 IDR / person or 1.75 Euros) was perfect: pancakes, fresh fruit, juices, hot drinks.
If the rooms were really dated, I must say they were clean and with air conditioner. We were 15 min walk to the beach and 5 min walk to the good restaurants. We even had WiFi and a fridge in the room!
