How to select cheap hotels in Indonesia
My mission: Find simple, correct, well locateded and especially cheap hotels for all the stages of my 15 days tour in Indonesia.
Difficulty: Being a group of 5 adults, it was necessary to find each time 3 rooms to reserve at the same time.
However, to have the choice and provide 3 rooms in the same hotel or guest house, I faced a single imperative: BOOK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
And it was accomplished mission: I blocked bookings on BOOKING.COM in February for our tour in October. Thus, I could get exactly what I wanted (locations, benefits, number of rooms) and, of course, mostly cheap hotels!
My selection of cheap hotels in Indonesia
Be aware that the majority of bookings are changeable and cancellable up to 48 hours before arrival. So, booking is not binding and it is the guarantee to have the accommodations that suit us before they are complete!

Cheap hotel in Indonesia in Yogyakarta
In Yogyakarta, I chose the Omah Konco Guest House and rated this property 9.6 and left the following comment on Booking.com :
“Everything was in line with our expectations: ideal location (in the historic Yogyakarta district 3 minutes walk from the Kraton) + simple but clean rooms and air conditioning OK + friendly setting. But what we appreciated the most is the welcome, the kindness and the availability of Labina who knew how to give us precious tourist advice and even moved with us lest we be lost … short , exceptional service! Thanks again to Labina, the boy who cooked us delicious breakfasts and the owner who was kind enough to come and see us to make sure we were well settled. “
To this comment that I left on booking, I will only add that it is really the good hotel plan for Yogyakarta!
More details and photos about our stay in this hotel, look at this post : Arrival in Yogyakarta
PRICE: 17,50 Euros per night

Cheap hotel in Indonesia in Tosari (near Bromo)
My choice fell on the hotel Huni Raya only for its location (one of the closest to the volcano Bromo). The hotel is not the cleanest, the rooms are wet but the view is beautiful. Normally, I would not recommend this hotel but there are so few around the Bromo volcano that it is a very good compromise to not waste too much time in the morning in transport …
PRICE: 19 Euros per night

Cheap hotel in Indonesia in Banyuwangi (near Ijen volcano)
Excellent choice: Didu’s homestay bed and breakfast
I rated this property 9.2 and left the following comment on Booking: “Everything was PERFECT: The decor of the room + the outdoor setting and the friendliness of the hosts. “
PRICE: 17 Euros per night

Cheap hotel in Indonesia in Ubud
Here is the guest house ESTY HOUSE where we had a very pleasant stay in the center of Ubud.
This is a good cheap hotel in Ubud with an unbeatable value for money!
I rated this property 9.2 and left the following comment on Booking:
“Only one negative point: The reception. We had booked 3 rooms as we were a party of 5 people. Upon arrival at 10pm only 2 rooms were free. We had to wait for 1h to release and clean the 3rd bedroom. Unlike all the other establishments we visited in Indonesia, the smile at Esty House was not included in the price!
Positive: Location in the city center of Ubud close to the market and good restaurants + setting and atmosphere + pool + clean rooms, spacious, bright with terrace, air conditioning … everything we were looking for. “
PRICE: 21 Euros per night
Cheap hotel in Indonesia in Sanur
GINA GUEST HOUSE with excellent value for money. It was a stopover because we wanted to get closer to Sanur for the next day to do the crossing BALI – GILI AIR. Clean, old but spacious rooms, wifi, even the location was ok (a 20 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to restaurants and shops).
In the end, it turned out to be one of the best plans of my selection of cheap hotels in Indonesia.
PRICE: 10 Euros per night

Cheap hotel in Indonesia to Gili Air Island
UNZIPP BUNGALOWS
What a nice surprise ! For the price, I did not expect such a good hotel …
And it turned out to be a very good hotel plan for Gili Air Island!
Indeed, it is well placed on the island (facing the best spot for snorkeling), beautiful pool, clean, quiet, restaurant and breakfasts facing the beach … So, I noted this property 8.8 and left the following comment on Booking:
“Negative: The bungalow was dark and windowless on the windows. Positive point: Everything and the location right next to the snorkeling spots. “
PRICE: 37 Euros per night
