Scotland road trip in 2 weeks – My selection of hotels
Scotland in 2 weeks – Edinburgh Cheap Hotel
For the first 2 nights of my tour in Scotland I booked the Spacious West End Apartment which was a 20 minute walk from the historic center of Edinburgh.
As it is an apartment with 2 nice rooms, it was the most economical formula. Indeed, as we were 4 people, 130 Euros per night, it was really a good plan for our small budget …
Especially that the apartment was beautiful, very well equipped and immaculate.
Superb location in a quiet residential area, very nice and ideal to quickly reach and walk to the main sights of the historic center of Edinburgh.
Scotland in 2 weeks – Cheap hotel in Saint Andrews
The center of Saint Andrews just 5 minutes walk makes this accommodation a very good plan. Note that this old building has a charm and a view of the beach.
What a beautiful place to stay in an unusual place, full of charm and the historic heart of Saint Andrews: The dormitories of the University of St. Andrews. These former dormitories have been converted into hotel rooms with bathrooms and hotel services. The setting is exceptional and the price of 80 Euros with breakfasts included simply incredible!
Scotland in 2 weeks – Cheap hotel near Balmoral
Very close to the Castle of Balmoral, I had booked accommodation in Bed and Breakfast super nice: Crannach House. Although the surrounding countryside is beautiful, the beautiful surroundings and the beautiful building, I must admit that it is especially Doug the owner who has charmed us the most!
Preventive and extremely kind, he knew how to make our stay unforgettable especially with his breakfast consisting of bacon, eggs, pancakes … Small price: 89 € with breakfast included.
Scotland in 2 weeks – Cheap hotel near Craigievar Castle
On the road to the Dufftown distilleries which was our next stop, just 30 minutes from Craigievar Castle, I booked another Bed and Breakfast: LILYOAK BED & BREAKFAST. Kim received us like kings! Everything was perfect as the place was very convenient on our itinerary, the room clean and comfortable and the breakfasts really hearty and greedy. Price: 80 € with breakfast.
Scotland in 2 weeks – Elgin Cheap Hotels
Elgin Guest House is 2 minutes from the Cathedral and the main street. That’s what pushed me to book this accommodation. At 65 Euros the room with breakfast included, it was a good compromise to be in the heart of the city and in a family and relaxed atmosphere. The typical Scottish breakfast was worthy of a midday meal.
Scotland in 2 weeks – Cheap hotel in Inverness
I found this B & B which location is ideal right next to the historic center of Inverness. Indeed, since this accommodation, you can easily do all sightseeing on foot. Only flaw: the room was a bit small. But it was one of the best B & B at such a low price and so close to the historic center I had found on Inverness. In addition, the car was easily parked near the accommodation.
Scotland in 2 weeks – Hotel facing Lake Loch Ness
With a breathtaking view of Loch Ness Lake, a very friendly staff, a friendly and warm atmosphere, I can say that I loved
The Craigdarroch Inn. Clean room, spacious, beautiful view of the lake, the must of this hotel was its restaurant and pub. The establishment, in full nature, is very close to the pier (boat rental and kayaks).
Scotland in 2 weeks – Hotel near Plockton
The Tingle Creek Hotel a little out of the way 15 minutes from Plockton but very nice and beautifully placed. At the edge of the water, it offers a superb view of the sea and the Sky Island … And for the evening: a restaurant on site! Everything was fine except the price a little high: 150 Euros.
Scotland in 2 weeks – Cheap Hotel on Isle of Skye
The Creagory Skye has nice single rooms, big and clean. At 150 Euros a night, the hotel was nice and was 10 minutes from the center of Portree. The friendliness of the owners and the breakfast are the little extras of this hotel.
Scotland in 2 weeks – Cheap hotel in Fort William
The Brevins Guest House is 10 minutes’ drive from Fort William. Convenient with parking and not too expensive, I liked the place “like home”. Brenda and Vincent were very caring …
Scotland in 2 weeks – Glasgow Cheap Hotel
For the last 2 nights of our tour in Scotland, I booked the Motel One Glasgow a good comfortable hotel, well located to visit the city. We also had the opportunity to park the car.
In the center of Glasgow, its location is perfect with all around pubs, restaurants, shops … and you can visit everything on foot! It is a modern hotel with a beautiful decor, spacious rooms and delicious breakfasts in the form of buffets. In addition, we were able to park the car in a nearby car park with a price negotiated by the hotel.
The value for money is unbeatable for Glasgow: only 90 Euros per night!
