In October 2017, we decided with friends to go on a 2 week tour of Indonesia. Our 5 people group decided to visit 3 parts of Indonesia doing a circuit of 2 weeks as follows: 6 days in Java + 4 days in Bali + 4 days in Gili Air. You will find herebelow how I organized this 2 weeks tour in Indonesia.
2 weeks tour in Indonesia – Which period to choose?
Having a tropical climate for the Java and Bali part, the “dry” season runs from May to October / November. However, even during the dry season, it may rain at the end of the day. Regarding the part GILI, no problem to choose because it is beautiful and dry all year! So I will choose from October 2 to 17 2017 (15 nights) – intermediate period between dry season and rainy season – interesting because less crowded sites and more interesting prices.

Indonesia – What to see?
Then I selected the regions and monuments to visit for a beautiful Indonesia Tour. Difficult choice for Indonesia because there are so many sites that must happen to choose only the inevitable and the most interesting without falling into the classic tour operators circuits. However, it was necessary to avoid wanting to visit all the temples, all the waterfalls, all the markets … So, I tried to find the nature-temples-relaxation compromise that will allow us to enjoy on the spot and do not have to go very fast. 15 days tour in Indonesia – Flight prices for Indonesia
Then we had to think about modes of transport. For flights, I chose a TOULOUSE-AMSTERDAM-JAKARTA to go and return DENPASAR-AMSTERDAM-TOULOUSE with KLM for a total of 766 Euros. It is impossible to combine these same flights on the Internet at reasonable prices (the going being different from the return). So I asked Leclerc Travel who responded perfectly to my requirements for 40 Euros agency fees. This agency knew how to combine then a domestic flight JAKARTA – YOGYAKARTA. Total flights amounted to 806 Euros. Sometimes it’s interesting to compare Internet prices with those of a classic travel agency …
15 days tour in Indonesia – Private driver and guide
As the distances between the different sites are very far apart and require a complicated logistical organization for 5 people, I opted for the reservation of a comfortable and air-conditioned mini-bus with English speaking driver and French speaking guide. But this option only concerns part of the trip only (8 full days). Its total cost all inclusive (transport, insurance, gasoline, driver and guide) per day and per person is 36 €.
15 days tour in Indonesia – What guide?
To find a local guide, I consulted blogs and I contacted directly by email 5 French guides. The exchanges were long and many because they all offered me different circuits and prices …
Finally, I chose Muhammad Firdaus through another guide who simply outsourced the service. And I can say that we were very lucky. Indeed, it corresponded exactly to what was expected and I am happy to recommend it …
Here are the coordinates of our kind guide who called himself Daus. It is perfect for those who want anecdotes, general and interesting information and who seek to avoid long historical stories with 10,000 dates and unpronounceable names that we never remember. In addition, Daus is very available, smiling and endearing! He was able to modify our initial program when it was necessary to give us opportunities to fully immerse himself in the life and culture of his country (see below the national festival of dances of Java).
