Cheap hotels in Panama – My 12 days tour
As a reminder, here is the itinerary of my Panama tour that requires me to book 3 different hotels in Panama City, on San Blas Islands and on Bocas del Toro Island. Cheap Hotel Panama – My selection in Panama City
To put it simply, I booked the same cheap hotel in Panama City for the days 1 – 8 – 9 – 10:
My selection criteria were:
- Good location,
- cleanliness and comfort,
- air conditioner,
- Small price !
I ended up choosing the one that has the best value for money in Panama City. It will ultimately be the Clarion Victoria Hotel. Indeed, it is a central hotel with bars and restaurants two minutes walk and which meets all my criteria for a very interesting price: 65 € per night.
This is a cheap and good hotel in Panama City because it is centrally located and is 8 minutes from the Iglesia del Carmen metro, in a very safe and upscale area.
The buffet breakfasts were very good and offered everything: salty, sweet, cereals, fresh fruit, fresh fruit juice …
I must tell you an anecdote about this cheap hotel Panama City : While I booked a basic room (1st price), we were upgraded without any extra charge. We were able to enjoy the suite # 704 on the 7th floor! It included an big entrance with coffee maker and fridge), a living room (sofa and large screen TV), a bedroom with TV and a nice shower room. We had a wonderful view of Panama City (see below). And for more fun : a pool on the roof of the hotel!
Cheap Hotel Panama – My selection on San Blas Islands
Bad surprise, it is really very difficult to find a cheap hotel in the San Blas Islands. Indeed, we must first choose on what small island we want to sleep. Then we discover that the offer is very limited because there are only huts without any comfort, catamarans that rent their rooms very expensive or a campsite on the island of Cartí Satubgua.
After much hesitation, I decided to book a simple private hut Demar Achudup where we stayed for 3 nights:
The highlight of these accommodations is their location. Indeed, the cabins are placed directly on the beach, under the coconut trees, facing a beautiful lagoon, with a hammock that awaits you for long naps in the sun …
This a real hut on the beach without any comfort but in a place so heavenly, we quickly forget the modern life and we like to live in Robinson Crusoe!
Price 125 Euros all inclusive.
Cheap Hotel Panama – My selection on Bocas del Toro Islands
Cheap hotel in Bocas del Toro – small cottage
Selecting a cheap hotel in Bocas de Toro is not easy either. Indeed, in this archipelago are many islands with, for the most part, a very varied hotel offer that goes from the room at the inhabitant to the super luxury hotel …
I wanted to book a hotel located south of Bocas del Toro Island. It was more convenient as close to the airport and the pier for the other islands. But no establishment really suited me (price, view, tranquility …).
It’s just a little further north on Colon Island, where I found the rare pearl: Jungle Paunch
These are small private cottages located 3 minutes walk from the beach on the edge of the Jungle (as the name suggests). Bluff Beach is famous for its turtles and is nearby.
The hotel is not expensive (compared to other hotels), quiet and its location is perfect to enjoy nature, beach, excursions on the other islands in short… Simply IDEAL!
Only downside: it does not have air conditioning. But he has a fan and a beautiful hammock on the terrace. And then keep in mind that this is a cheap hotel in Bocas del Toro.
Good advantage of the cottage: it is equipped as a small apartment and so we can prepare meals.Son price: 75 € per night (for a fully equipped cottage I found it was not expensive at all ). See this hotel on Booking
Cheap hotel in Bocas del Toro – good hotel
But if you want more confort in a beautiful and quiet hotel in front of Playa Bluff beach, I can advise you to stay at Playa Bluff Lodges. It is a little bit more expensive but keeps a good value for money !
